All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** >From the September 27, 1956 Winn Parish Enterprise-News American Interesting Record of School Given Homecoming of Hebron School Near Sikes Set For Sept., 1957 Some of the pupils of Hebron School met Sept. 23, to plan an annual meeting for the pupils and teachers of Hebron School. There was a record of the school of 1912-13 session, Mrs. Jessie Daniels, teacher. The directors were H. V. Mayes, George Peppers, and J. W. "Doc" Hatten, all deceased now. Some of the pupils were Evelyn, Matoline, and Dewey Hinton; Almelia, Chris, Monroe, and Willie B. Hatten; Martha Ann and Edwin Peppers; Sidney Rentz, Romelia Sears, Elizabeth, Inger, and Willie B. Thigpen; Otis Pearlie, and Prat Young. The last session was taught by Mrs. Chlotine Fordham Wyatt. Some of the teachers that had taught here were: George A. Kelley, Sam Newsom, Sr., Cass Moss, Andrew Reeves, Katie Cobb, Vera Conts, Mrs. Jessie Daniels, Lunie Willis, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hinton, Artie Welch, Mabel Myres, Alpha Willis Kidd, Mrs. McBee, Jocie Fordham Nugent, N. D. Fordham, Jessie Puckett, Narcissus Riser, Lora Carroway Henderson, Zola Warner, Lyda Bell Beavers, Evelyn Miller Vail, Pearl Wade Parker, D. E. Chapman, Etta Fox Peppers, Lois Underwood, and Chlotine Fordman Wyatt. A program committee was appointed consisting of N. D. Fordman, T. B. Eubanks, Crafton Thigpen, and Mrs. Vorine Hatten. It was decided to meet 1st Sunday in Sept. of 1957. Let's everyhone that ever attended old Hebron School make an effort to attend. Mrs. Almedia H. Huitt of Monroe was appointed to put a report in the Monroe Morning World and Mrs. Chlotide H. Vickers of Olla to put a report in the Winn Parish Enterprise. F. C. Herring and O. O. Willis were the two oldest pupils present. Other pupils present were Alpha smith Martihn, Ola Hatten Simons, Lecy Smith Mayes, Loyd D. Willis, J. W. Hatten, Willie B. Hatten, Melton D. Rentz, Waylon May, Clyde Herring, T. B. Eubanks, Lawson Smith, F. N. Willis, Crafton Thigpen, Nathan Willis, Oscar Fay Parker, Mike Hatten, Chris Hatten, Maurine Willis Tullos, Nancy Willis Patton, Willie Crain Broom, Vorine Crain Hatten, R. A. Thigpen, Sr., Almedia Hatten Huitt, Vera Hatten Martin, Monroe Hatten, and Chlotide Herring Vickers. Several members of the family of different pupils were present also.
