[NOTES FROM SUBMITTER: Clyde George Durham is the grandson of James Lucius Durham and Talitha McIlwain of Winn Parish, LA and the son of George William Durham and Addie Payne; he was born in Montgomery, LA. There is a lot of information on each of the seniors. Clyde George Durham graduated with an A. B. degree in 1917, after attending Louisiana College in Pineville, LA most of the time from 1912 until 1917. His nickname at college was "Captain". He was described as a very staunch friend of the Orphanage. "It is generally known that Durham stock is good, and he is no exception" (The Pine Knot 1917:13). He was a member of the Cadmian Literary Society; varsity football team 1913-15-16; varsity basketball team, 1916-17, team captain, 1917, and team manager, 1914; varsity baseball team, 1913-14-15-16-17; captain of the track team, 1917; Literary Editor of The Pine Knot 1915; Editor-in-chief of the Messenger 1915-16 and Business Manager of the Messenger 1916-1917; L. C. debating team 1917; Local Editor of The Pine Knot 1917. A short story by Clyde appears in the back of this yearbook. Clyde and Mamie Flo Schilling were married by W. N. Enete, M.G.* Witnesses were Mrs. C. A. SCHILLING and Gordon DURHAM. Clyde lived in Glenmora at the time he married, and Mamie lived in Pineville. G. W. & Addie DURHAM were living in Winnsboro at that time. Mamie's father, (Dr.?) C. A. Durham was on the Intercollegiate Debating team in 1917. C. G. Durham won the Schnack Base Ball [sic] Prize in 1915. Miss Lessie Durham won the Shealy Prize in 1915. C. Q. Durham won the Benton Medal for Debate in 1914. [... I believe this is Clement Quitman Durham, grandson of James Lucius Durham and Talitha Ann McIlwain, son of James Thomas Durham and Martha Malinda Payne.
