According to Mr. Martin, he and Mr. Rabon were on a hunting trip through the rugged hill country just west of Saline Bayou on the extreme northeast part of Natchitoches Parish, when they found what appeared to be a brick pavement in an eroded hillside. The brick pavement was made of large size bricks, laid close together and of a design and size never before seen by Messrs. Martin and Raybon. Mr. Martin states that erosion for about one-half mile has exposed this brick pavement in spots across a big hill. According to Mr. Martin, there are broken bits of pottery and stone and clay utensils scattered over this area, indicating the existence of a pre-historic city. He said that he and Rabon would be glad to guide any archaeologist or geologist to the area where they found these ancient relics.
