Winn Parish Youths Liberated S Sgt. H. L. Boyette, Jr., a German prisoner since October 8, 1943, has been liberated. His cablegram: "Am well and fit. My thoughts are with you. Love to all the family, " was received Thursday morning at nine o'clock. The son of H. L. Boyette, Sr., of Winnfield, S Sgt. Boyette was serving as a waist gunner on a flying fortress shot down over enemy territory. For meritorious service prior to his internment, he was awarded the air medal and several other medals. S Sgt. Boyette joined the service in 1940, at which time he was assigned to a tank destroyer division at Fort Bennning, Ga. He later was transferred to intelligence and then the air corps. In May, 1943 he was awarded his gunner's wings, and was assigned to service overseas. His sisters are Misses Ferne and Marjorie Boyette of Winnfield and Alexandria, and Mrs. Cordell Norwood of Texas City, Texas, and his brother, a discharged Merchant Marine, is C. J. Boyette, of Shreveport.
