W. E. Dark, The "Dancing Vet" Featured In "Clog Dance" Fri. Night Six Confederate Veterans represented the David Pierson Camp at the reunion held in Alexandria last Thursday and Friday. They were W. E. Dark, Gaars Mill, Dr. A. P. Collins, Pleasant Hill, S. H. Wyatt, Wyatt, W. H. Murphy, Ruston, A. W. Radescich, Winnfield, J. B. Durham, Winnfield, D. E. Gaar of Dodson, and J. T. Porter of Winnfield attended one day of the session. The "clog dance" by W. E. Dark and Jules Dewey of Rosepine was the feature of the theatre program on Thursday night when the Veterans were entertained. These two were presented to the audience by Mayor V. C. Lampkin of Alexandria and gave a little of their personal history. Mr. Dark is 84 years old, is the father of twenty-two children. He has twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. "I would say," said Mayor Lampkin, "that Mr. Dark is 'some man.' Mr. Dark's dancing partner is 89 years old and has thirty grandchildren. Mr. Dewey put aside his cane whenhe and Mr. Dark began dancing amid the applause and shouts of the audience and in manner that would put youngsters to shame. Mr. Dark is the "dancing Vet" of all the state and national reunions. He is always featured in such a role, and the charming and thrilling part is that despite his age he is active, more so than many men much younger than himself, and really likes it and gets great pleasure from the dancing.
