State of Louisiana,County of Winn.In the matter of the application for pension of Mary Branch widow of Theophilus Branch co.c.1st reg. La.vol scouts.On this 23rd day of december 1895 personally appeared before me a clerk of court in and for the aforesaid county,duly authorized to administer oaths,W.H.Hammons aged 31 years,a resident of Gaars Mill in the county of Winn and state of Louisiana whose Post-Office is Gaars Mill La.Well known to me to be respectable and entitled to credit,and who,being duly sworn,declare in relation to the aforesaid case as follows:That he has beenwell and personally acquainted with Mary Branch for 20,years and that her husband Theophilus Branch died June 12,1895 and that she has not remarried since his death and from haveing known the family all my life I was satisfied that neither of them had ever been previously married.And that they were never divorced.She owns a 1/2 intrest in 160 acres of land about 20 acres in cultavation worth about $150.00 one jenny mare worth about $25.00 4 haed of ??? cattle worth about $20.oo She has no income except what she derives from this property as she and one chield farm on it.That this affidavit was written by J.T.Wallace in his presence on the 23rd day of Dec.1895 ???Pension Office stamp covers word his own statement made at this time and without any suggestion as to what he should swear.He further declares that he has no interest in said case and is not concerned in its prosecution.
