This file may not be uploaded to any other website or used by any person(s) in a mailing list message other than the USGenWeb Archives, Winn Par., LA without the express written permission of the submitter.*********************************************** Deposition Case of Mary Branch NO 617622 On this 18 day of June 1902 at near Gaars Mills,count of Winn State of La before me S.S.Gahiler a special exminer of the Bureau of Pensions,personally appeared Cololumbus J.Hammons WHO BEING by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension,depsoses and says:I am 33 years of age,farmer,residence near and post office address is Haars Mills,La.I have known Mary Branch who is now a widow from my earliat recollection.She was the wife of Theophilus Branch until his death which occurred about the year 1895.Ihad known these people from my chieldhood and they lived together as husband and wife during all this time until Mr Branch died.The claimant has not remarried since the death of her husband.The soldier left at the time of his death an old place of about 120 acres of land,which Ido not think was worth over $100.as the place was poor land to start with and it was worn out at the the time the soldier died.The claimant has had no means of support since her husband died except as she is supported by her children.The land that was owned by the soldier was advertised to sell for taxes,and Ithink sold,but I did not go to the sale.I am satisfied that the soldier died June 1895,but the day of the month I do not remember.I have heard my statement raed and my answers have been correctly recorded.Columbus J.Hammons Sworn to and subscribed before me this 18 day of June 1902 and I certify that the contents were fully made known to deponent before signing S.S.Galiher Special Examiner
