This file may not be uploaded to any other website or used by any person(s) in a mailing list message other than the USGenWeb Archives, Winn Par., LA without the express written permission of the submitter.*********************************************** DEPOSITION CASE OF Mary Branch NO 617622 On this 18 day of June 1902 at Dodson county of Winn State of La. before me,S.S.Galiher a special examiner of the Bureau of Pensions personally appeared W.F.Hammons who being by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension deposes and says:I am 38 years of age farmer,residence near and post office address is Gaars Mills La.I have known Mary branch for about 30 years and I knew her husband from that time until his death.Theophilus Branch died June 1895 but the day of the month Ido not now remember CLAIMant lived with the soldier from my first aquaintance with them until his death and were never divorced.The claimant has not remarried since the death of hte soldier.Theophilus Branch Left 120 acres of land at the time of his death.This land was poor and a considerable part of it worn out.I think that this land was worth about $150.The claimant has had no means of support from the death of the soldier to the present time,except what little personal property was left and and this land and the land was sold for taxes.This woman has been living with first one and then the other of her children since Mr Branch died.I have heard my affidavits read and must state I can not remember the exact date of Theophilus Branch`s death.As to whether the claimant or soldier had been preoiously married I have no personal knowoledge.Ihave heard my statement read and my answers have been correctly recorded.
