I do not know that Branch was in the rebel army, but I think that I have heard that he was.I lived some distance from these people during the war likely about seven miles.I have no rscollection of having ever heard what was the name of the captain under which Branch served,if he was in such service.I dare not say how old Branch when was married to Mary Dyess but I think that he was about thirty years old.I know that these people lived togather and were never divorced from the time they were married until Mr Branch died. The claimant has not remarried since the death of her husband.I do not know anything about her means of support,as I live some diatance from her.I dare not say how long ago Theophilus Branch and Mary Dyess were married, but they were married many years ago.I reckon that they were married about 1850.Ihave heard you state that I should have stated in my affidavit that these people were married in 1848 or 1849 but I do not remember the year.I have heard my statement read and my answers have been correctly recorded. her Witness,J.T.Abrams Vicena m X Dyess mark Sworn to and subscribed before me this 19th day of June,1902,and I certify that the contents were fully made known to deponent before signing S.S.Galiher
