In Command Of U. S. N. Training Center At Georgia

Commander R. Eugene Beck, U. S. Navy, a native of Winnfield has recently
assumed command of the U. S. Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Training Center,
located on the campus of Georgia Tech at Atlanta.  Commander Beck reported
to Atlanta from an assignment on the staff of General Lyman Lemnitzer, NATO's
Supreme Allied Commander Europe, in Parish, France, and is responsible for the
training of the seventeen Naval Reserve Units attached to the Center,
including surface divisions, CBs, Intelligence and other specialized programs.

He is a graduate of Winnfield public schools and Louisiana College and is
married to the former Vera Shirley of DeRidder.  He is the son of Mrs. Eugene
Beck and the brother of Mrs. V. Matt Milam, Jr. of this city.
