Egan Is New Veterans Service Officer Kenneth T. Egan, better known in Winn Parish as "Kenny", assumed the position of Veterans Service Officer for Winn Parish August 1. Egan comes to this position after 12 years service in the Navy as Aviation Electrician. This service included two tours of duty in Viet Nam. After his discharge from the Navy in 1973 he has worked for two years as oil field service manager in Louisiana, Texas, and California. He replaces Reitzell Longino, who recently retired because of health reasons. He is the son of Mrs. Doris Egan of this city. Egan, his wife Joyce, and their three children, Steven, Linda, and Connie, are now living here in South Winnfield. "I am glad to be back home and living in Winnfield," said Egan. "I can promise that I am going to see that the veterans of Winn Parish get the service to which they are entitled." The Veterans Service Office is located on the basement floor of the Courthouse. Mrs. Frankie McLaughlin is the secretary. Egan will be attending a Service Officer's training school from August 11 to September 5. During his absence a relief officer will be on duty. "Just tell the veterans to let us know their problems and we'll sure try to help them," was Egan's final reminder at the close of the interview.
