Harrell of Winnfield, is Winn Parish's first member of the WAVES. She was sworn in at Alexandria, Saturday, March 27, as an officer candidate, by Ensign Margaret Carver, U. S. N. R., of the naval office procurement, New Orleans. Miss Harrell will leave about April 20 for Hunter College, N. Y., for further training. She has been connected with the Child Welfare Bureau at Natchitoches for some time. Miss Harrell is the fifth member of her family to enlist, two brothers being in the navy and two in the army. She also has one other brother, 18 years old, who will soon be in line for enlistment, this being the last member of the Harrell family to enlist.
