Henry Ford Killen, editor of the Mitchel Beacon, base newspaper. Killen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Killen of Winnfield. He received his first newspaper experience on the Winn Parish Enterprise. Sgt. Killen received the award for "often carrying the workloads that would require the attention of two men" in helping to prepare the large volume of news releases for civilian media and making the Mitchel Beacon ready for press, "greatly assisting the public information division in the furtherance of its mission." Veteran of the 390th Bombardment group in the 8th Air Force, Sgt. Killen, former newspaperman for upstate New York dailies, has edited The Beacon nearly three years. During the war he served two years in England as a radar operator-mechanic.
