James H. Griffin, 20 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Griffin of Winnfield, was wounded in action in Korea recently for the second time. His parents live on Lafayette Street, and Mr. J. H. Griffin is owner of the Orange Crunch Bottling Company here. Cpl. Griffin was returned to duty after a slight wound on September 18 and in a letter dated September 22, he told his parents "I am again right back in the hospital. And this time I won't be going back to the front right away. They really put me off my feet for awhile." The letter stated that his second wound came when a mortar shell landed in the foxhole with him and a buddy. "I was a little luckier than him," Cpl. Griffin writes. "I got it in both of my feet and the left arm, and a few small pieces in the back. Otherwise I am OK. I'm not through with them (Koreans) yet. That's twice they got the drop on me." Cpl. Griffin writes that he is being shipped back to Japan. He said "Tell the kids hello for me, and tell Mom not to worry."
