N. Anderson of East Lafayette Street, narrowly escaped death and created a lot of excitement in her neighborhood and other parts of the town late Saturday afternoon, when she fell in the fifteen foot dug well on her back porch. Sarah sat down on the well covering on top of the well, which is almost even with the porch floor, and the plank fell through. Her mother, who was canning beans in the yard, heard a strange noise and went into the house to see what was happening. Not finding the child she came out on the porch and located the source of the noise. Sarah was floating on the plank in the well. Her father, who was in the yard, quickly went into the well, tied Sarah in the bucket and neighbors hoisted her to safety. She was unhurt save for a minor scratch on one finger.
