Douglas Durrett, chief deputy sheriff in Winn Parish from 1944 to 1948, and now a state police member, has been named commander of Troop G in Bossier City. He succeeds Capt. H. H. Hollenshead who retired last week at request of state police headquarters for complicity with six other troop members in the alleged purchase and sale of at least 17 U. S. Air Force carbine rifles. Capt. Durrett, a native of Arcadia, joined the state police in 1940. After duty at Alexandria he was assigned to Winnfield headquarters until 1944 when he left the organization to serve in the Winn Sheriff department. In 1948, he returned to the state police, serving as commander of Troop E, Alexandria, until he was appointed special investigator for Col Grevemberg, superintendent of state police, about a month ago.
