S. Savings Bonds at issue price during the month of October, the Treasury Department has announced. R. A. Clewis is recuperating at his home here after undergoing an operation at Surgeons and Physicians Hospital in Shreveport last Thursday. Roy James, who is in charge of the Hatchery department at the Winnfield Cash Grocery attended a hatchermen's meeting in Little Rock, Ark., Monday and Tuesday. [photo] Virgil Taylor, Sr., who won last week's football guessing contest, played football for Winnfield high school in 1915 and 1916. He was coached by Alvin Stokes, now Rev. Stokes, and Bernard Nelken. "We didn't use shoulder pads or helmets in those days," Mr. Taylor recalls. H. C. Moorhead, Jr., former Winnfield high student, and now student at Texarkana, Ark., high, and is a poplular player on the Texarkana football team.
