Miss Parker is the daughter of Mrs. J. B. Parker and the late Dr. J. B. Parker of Sikes. She graduated from Sikes High School and from Tri-State Hospital School of Nursing. Immediately preceding her appointment as Parish health nurse, Miss Parker completed a 13 week course in Public Health nursing with the Louisiana Department of Public Health in New Orleans. She will be in the health office above Branch Drugs in Winnfield on Monday of each week to interview applicants for tuberculosis treatment, well baby and maternity care and inoculations for smallpox, diphtheria, typhoid, and other diseases. During the week, Miss Parker will make regular visits to homes and schools to give educational help to T. B. patients, crippled children, and communicable diseases patients. She will also make pre-school health roundups, giving pointers on all phases of child health and care. The health nurse will not give bedside care to any patients. In an interview, Miss Parker said, "I'm new to public health nursing, but with time, and cooperation I can do it."
