"Buddy" Payne ran a community store in Hudson from about 1906 to the mid/late 1930s. The following names, as best I could read and interpret these, were posted in accounts or listed in the pages of his first ledger for the early years (1906-1914) of the store's operation. Apparently in some of those early years, Buddy Payne bought and sold items associated with the larger retailing operations of W.M.D. Gaar in Winn Parish. The pages of the ledger display various transactions (often in much less than formal notation) involving cotton, lumber, meal and groceries. Also noted in one section is a list of road workers engaged in some local project in 1908. J.B. Berry, C.W. Branch, G.W. Branch, R.J. Crain, A.W. Cooper, W.L. Dark, P.J. Carroll, G.W. Eliot, B.E.
