Thompson Named Parole Officer; Bass Appointed

H. W. Bass of Winnfield this week was appointed a member of the State Parole
Commission to succeed Chairman O. B. Thompson, also of Winnfield, who resigned
October 11, to accept a position as State Parole Officer.

Mr. Bass, who served as City Marshal here for eight years, received his
commission this week.  The appointment was made by Governor Long.

Mr. Thompson will head the administrative staff of the commission, which
includes several district parole officers.  He served as parole officer under
a former commission several years ago.
