Bice, has been elected President of the Louisiana District Attorneys Association. The 44 year old Bice was elected to the highest position in the state organization at the group's annual convention recently in New Orleans. A life long resident of Winn Parish, Bice has served the Association in positions of the Board of Directors from 1978 to 1980 and then as First Vice President for this past year. Bice has also been chairman of the Building Committee, and in that capacity been a motivating force behind the selection and purchase of a new Association headquarters in Baton Rouge. A practicing attorney in Winnfield since 1968, Bice earned his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law with top honors in his class. While at Loyola he was listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, was editor of the Loyola Law Review his senior year, and a member of the Blue Key National Honor Society. A member of the Winn Parish Bar Association and the Louisiana Bar Association, the Winn Parish District Attorney also holds membership in the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, and is a member of the American Judicature Society. Bice has served as District Attorney for the Eighth Judicial District for nine years. He was unopposed for the post in 1978. The Eighth Judicial District was originally composed of Winn and Grant Parishes. However, Grant Parish, by referendum in 1975, created its own judicial district. Bice continued to serve as DA for Winn Parish. A 1955 graduate of Winnfield High School, Bice received his Bachelor of Science Degree in education from Northwestern in 1959. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from June 3, 1959 to August 15, 1962 as a Marine Officer and Naval Aviator. He holds the rank of Major and has been a member of the MTU-13 (Aviation) U. S. Marine Corps reserve squadron, having completed 20 years of service in active and reserve duty with the Marine Corps. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bice of Winnfield, he is married to the former Carolyn Smith, daughter of Mrs. Ellis Smith of Winnfield, and the late Mr. Smith. The have one daughter, Stacie.
