T. Durham and he is now holding the trust voted to him last spring by the people of this parish. There were many who did not believe that the endorsement of the people would be recognized by Governor Blanchard in the matters of assessor, but we are pleased to record that the wishes of a majority of Winn parish voters have been recognized. Mr. Durham was endorsed after two hard fought elections against some of the best men of our parish and even those who did not support him in the elections felt that he should be given the appointment. The wishes of a majority have been respected and Mr. Durham is assesssor for the coming four years. Mr. Durham is well known to all the people of the parish. He is a young, self-made man, who is well qualified for the position and counts his friends by the hundreds. The responsible duties of the position have been placed in competent hands and we feel safe in venturing assurance that the affairs of that branch of government will be carefully looked after during the next four years.
