Eagles to Head Winn Democratice Exec. Committee

George P. Eagles, Sr., of Winnfield has been elected by the Winn Parish
Democratic Executive Committee to serve as chairman of the group for the next
four years.

Other officers elected by the new committee, which held an organizational
meeting at the Court House on Saturday, March 6, were Frank L. Shaw, Jr.,
first vice-chairman; Maynard (Mike) Shetley, second vice-chairman; and E. E.
Prince, secretary-treasurer.

Members of the Winn Parish Democratic Executive Committee who were elected in
the Primary election January 20 are : H. B. Bozeman, E.E. Prince, Maynard
Shetley, J.M. Neal, Lloyd Waxley, D.A. Forrest, Frank L. Shaw, Jr., Georg
Porter, W.L. Dark, J.R. Madden, Sr., George Eagles, Dewey Thornton, C.L. Ray,
B.F. Temple, Ervin Neal and Frank N. Gibbs.

The Winn Parish Democratic Executive Committee Executive Committee is the
official governing body and furnishes supervision over Democratic primary
elections in this Parish.  After officially calling the election, it is the
duty of the Committee to select election commissioners and officers and to
prepare and distribute ballot boxes to each of Winn's 28 precincts.  It is the
committeemen's responsibility to see that a fair and honest election is held
and to make sure that laws governing elections are not violated.  The
committee officially tabulates and promulgates the returns of the Parish
elections and makes a complete report to the Secretary of State.
