J. C. Deen, 49, of Route 2, Benton, La., where he has lived for the past 25 years was successful in his bid for state representative. He was faced with a Republican opponent in the general election. He served as a member of the Bossier Parish Police jury since 1960. Mr. Deen, formerly of Grant Parish, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Deen of Hargis Community. A 1940 graduate of Montgomery High School, he received his B. S. degree from Southwestern University, M. A. degree from the University of Arkansas, and did post-graduate work at Northwestern University and is presently principal of Rocky Mount High School where he had been a faculty member for several years. He is a member of the Ivan Baptist Church where he is a deacon, a member of the Cypress Masonic Lodge No. 89, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Caddo Parish Cattleman's Association, and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Deen is married to the former Evelyn Young and the father of four children, Larry, Duane, Debbie, and Pam.
