His parents are Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Jacobs. He was Jerry Jacobs, who was killed when a brick wall collapsed on his hook- and-ladder truck while he was operating the ladder to pick Tucker off the burning wall. Now, the Ward LaFrance Fire Equipment Company has made a $ 5,000 national award to Jacob's widow and 4 year old son. A new truck has replaced the one to which Jacobs was assigned. A memorial plaque honoring Jacobs is fixed onto the new truck.
