Long Is Counsel For House Committee Gillis W. Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd H. Long, Sr., of Winnfield, was named general counsel of the special House committee to investigate campaign expenditures, it was announced by Rep. Hale Boggs, chairman of the committee. Long was serving as counsel for the Senate small business committee, and was given a six months leave of absence to serve with the House committee. The campaign investigation committee is created by an act of Congress every two years to supervise election of members to the House of Representatives, and has the power to investigate and report to the House on conduct of elections and recommend legislation covering campaigns. It also gathers and submits information which would have a bearing on contests which might be instituted involving a seat in the House. Long holds a B. A. degree from LSU and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
