The university coed is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Roberts of Winnfield. She is a 1969 graduate of Winnfield Senior High School, where she was active in all school functions. At Winnfield Senior High, Miss Roberts was voted most talented, most beautiful, and was head majorette for the band. She was a member of Future Business Leaders of American, Future Homemakers of America and served as songleader, and a member of the Beta Club. She was a band officer, a member of the French Club, and performed in the Speech play. She is a sophomore at Louisiana Tech majoring in home economics with emphasis on child development. She is also interested in the field of fashion merchandising. Sharon Haynie of Bossier City was named first runnerup and second runnerup went to Judy White of Shreveport. Louellen Aden of New Orleans was the former titleholder. The annual pageant was observed by a large crowd in Howard Auditorium on the La. Tech campus. For the past two years, Miss Roberts has been female vocalist for the Collegiates, a university state band. She sand a medley of songs in talent competition. She is active in several campus organizations. Miss Roberts was crowned at the Saturday night pageant by Dr. Virgil Orr, vice-president for academic affairs at Tech. The new queen received a cash award from a Ruston bank. She will now be eligible to compete in the Miss Louisiana Pageant this summer in Monroe. Miss Roberts won out over 10 other finalists who had been selected from a field of 18 coeds.
