All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** >From the October 23, 1936 Winnfield News-American Members of Allen-Caves Families Gather In Reunion Second Sunday In September Set as Regular Meeting Coming from every section of North Louisiana the members of the Allen-Caves families assembled at Old Union Church on Sunday, October 11 for the annual reunion and celebrating the 79th birthday of C. C. Allen, who is the oldest living member of the family. Mr. Allen is the father of nine children, seven of whom are living. He is the grandfather of 30 and great grandfather of nine. Missing from the group this year was the late T. F. Wade of Verda who was elected president at the last annual meeting, and in honor of his memory and tribute to his exemplary life a brief silence was observed. Jim Sanders, Mrs. Robert Kraft, and Miss Ethel Wade were elected during the business session to preside over the day's meeting and Miss Wade was also named family historian. The second Sunday in September of each year was set as the annual meeting day in the future, following which short talks were made by C. C. Allen, Charlie Allen, Columbus James, Jim Sanders, and Mrs. Susie Allen of Bentley. The afternoon devoted to singing and general conversation among the various family groups.
