McLaren Family Held Reunion October 16

The descendants of the late W. E. "Bill" and Lena Myers McLaren met Saturday,
October 16, 1982 in Atlanta, Louisiana for a family reunion at the camp house
of Rayford and Bertie McLaren Fowler.  Also the gathering recognized and
celebrated the birthday of the oldest family member, Mrs. Ninah McLaren
Knighten.  The weather for the day was beautiful, there was bountiful and
delicious food, and everyone had a good time.

Attending were: Mrs. Ninah McLaren Knighten of Gibsland; Ed and Neal Finuf,
and Leon and Bernice Knighten, of Shreveport; Simmie and Mary McLaren
Halterman and Randy, Mary Ellen and Megan (the youngest family member present)
Smith, all of Springhill; Rigdon and Virgie McLaren Terrell, and Speck and
Gertie McLaren Peyton, of San Antonio, Texas; Hattie McLaren Thomas, Michael
and Donald Jones, and David, Susan H. and Rebekah Bujal, of Baton Rouge; Cary
and Opal Rae Wild and Mary Lou Andrews of Hammond; Laura and Sarah Jones
of Ruston; George and Lillie Robinson, Janice McLaren and Melinda O'Neal,
Artis and Dallas McElroy, Howard McLaren and John McLaren, all from Winnfield;
Omera Pugh McLaren, Marcille and Deneen McLaren, Betsy, Christopher and Jeremy
McLaren, and Joe McLaren, from Wheeling Community; Frank McLaren from Mars
Hill Community; Pat McLaren and Beth M. Martin of Hargis Community, and Vara
Ferguson Smith of Atlanta.  Sammie Fowler and Olin Sanesburg visited Sunday.

After a most enjoyable meal, the group gathered inside to listen to music by
Artis and Dallas McElroy.  The family birthday gift to Aunt Ninah was a money
tree, with one dollar for each year.

All voted to meet again next year, October 8, 1983, at the same place.
