A. and Mrs. Birdie Calk Patton, former Winn Parish residents, gathered Sunday, September 2, 1979 in Sterlington, Louisiana for its annual family reunion. Of the nine children of the senior Reverend and Mrs. Patton, eight survive. Only one sister, Mrs. Marie Faust, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, was unable to attend, and several other families lived too far away to come. Reverend I. A. Patton (the son), pastor of United Methodist Church of Sterlington, had provided a rented hall for the gathering, and a number of the group attended church services conducted by Reverend Patton prior to the meal which was a basket lunch spread about 12:45 p.m. John Gannway provided special entertainment with his magic tricks. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. John Gannway (Thelma Patton), Norfolk, Va., and their son, John Marvin Gannway and his family of Leesburg, Va.; Mrs. Ted Walker and granddaughter of Shreveport; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Crawley and children, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Patton and two children, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank McElduff and children, all of Monroe; Also, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Leon, Mrs. Sarah Rockhold (Sarah Patton), Mrs. Linda Easterling and Kimberly, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Boyd (Lynn Patton), Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Rockhold, Reverend and Mrs. Robert Miller (Hazel Patton), and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miller and children, Jon, Bobby, Judy, and Beth, all of West Monroe; Mrs. Teresa Patton, Jan and Donnie of Dallas, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Boyd and four sons of Conroe, Texas; Reverend and Mrs. I. A. Patton (only brother) of Sterlington; and Mrs. Ruth Earle (Ruth Patton) of Winnfield.
