Senator and Mrs. S. J. Harper Observe Golden Wedding Anniversary, Sunday,
April 3

The doors and spacious home of Senator and Mrs. S. J. Harper on Center Street
were opened wide, Sunday, April 3rd, to relatives and friends who took part in
the celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Harper's golden anniversary and also Mrs.
Harper's 69th birthday.  Mr. Harper recently passed the age of 77.

Mrs. Harper says that it will be remembered as one of her happiest days,
having all of their children and their grandchildren and relatives with them.

All decorations in the lovely home were reminiscent of the occasion.  The
cakes, three of them gifts of relatives and friends were beautiful and
delicious.  All relatives and friends brought baskets filled with lovely
and wholesome foods.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Harper were the recipients of many and useful gifts. 
Beautiful congratulations, telegrams, and presents arrived from far away
friends who were unable to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Harper is the only couple on either side of their family who have
lived to celebrate a golden wedding anniversary.

Coffee and cake was served throughout the day.  The three children of the
couple, Blanchard Harper and Mrs. Maude Harper of Winnfield and Mrs. E. E.
Harkrider of Greenwood, assisted in the courtesies.
