All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 26, 1987 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Stroud Family Gathers For Annual Family Reunion On the weekend of August 15 and 16, the family of Theodore Appleton "App" and Edith Josephine Garner Stroud gathered for a family reunion in Wheeling at the homeplace of Marcus Stroud. App was the oldest son of Lawrence and Josephine Tolbert Stroud. He was born at Atlanta and grew up in that vicinity. The Stroud family came into Winn Parish in approximately 1860 from Caldwell Parish. Josephine G. Stroud was the daughter of Stephen William and Alice Lott Garner of the Crews Community in southern Winn Parish. The had relocated to Winn Parish circa 1882 from Lawrence County, Mississippi, along with all his brothers and his sister. Approximately 60 descendants, cousins, and friends joined tow of the four surviving children, Mrs. Murriel Stroud Brown of Deweyville, Texas, and Mrs. Lessie Stroud Cloud of Hemphill, Texas. Mrs. Vermelle Stroud Smart of Buna, Texas, and Theodore A. Stroud of Alexandria were unable attend. A spread meal was enjoyed by all on both days. Some roamed the hills of the old homeplace and rediscovered places held in memory for years. A move of the 1971 family reunion held at the same place was shown on Saturday night and brought back many memories of those no longer with the family. Oldest members were Mrs. Lillie Perkins Stroud of Orange, Texas and Mrs. Martha Shepard Stroud of Wheeling. Plans were made to hold another reunion next year. Those attending from Winn Parish were Mrs. Martha S. Stroud, Mrs. Shirley Stroud Bass, Howard Stroud of Wheeling, Mrs. Lillie DeSoto, Mrs. Laura L. Farr, Mrs. Delea B. Lonadier, Mrs. Billie L. Trisler, Clifton Londadier of St. Maurice, Mr. and Mrs. Buford Pinder, Jerry and Thomas of Crews Community, and Wayne and Sherri Stroud Davison of Winnfield.
