Pat Smith Suffers Serious Injury at Log Derrick in Winnfield. Winnfield, La., Sept. 26. - Yesterday afternoon Pat Smith, an employe [e] of the Mansfield Lumber Company's mill at this place had the misfortune to lose one of his feet. He was flagging for the engineer of the log derrick who was lifting a log and in some way Smith got out of sight and the engineer let the log fall against him catching his foot between the log that was being lifted and another one and crushed it so badly the surgeons had to amputate just below the knee. He stood the shock well and from last accounts was doing well.
