Atlanta Track Team Takes Fourth

The Atlanta track team won fourth place in Class C competition at the District
Meet at Northwestern State College.  They competed with eight other teams and
amassed a total of 38 points.  Best individual efforts were by James Carter,
who placed first in the broad jump with a leap of 18 feet, 8 inches, and ran
the 220-yard dash in 23 seconds, to come in second; and Bill Spillers, who won
second place in the javelin competition with a toss of 137 feet.  The team
finished third in the 440 yard relay.

Team roster:  Leo Shelton, Coach, James Carter, Clyde Gresham, Jerry
Southerland, Johnny Garner, Lamar Hale, and Bill Spillers.
