Friday night they played their first game against Meaux and defeated them 30-18. Saturday they played the Pride team, who were strong contenders for the title and defeated them 31-26 after a hard fought game. In the semi-finals they played Rosepine, another strong team and defeated them 30-28. Saturday night in the final game they met Florien boys and won by a score of 31-25. Each player received a miniature gold basketball and the team was awarded two trophies, one from the Louisiana State Athletic Association and one form the University. Two players on Calvin's team had the distinction of being placed on the All-State Team. They were Hesley Dee Canerday, who was chosen All-State forward on the first team and J. D. Canerday, All-State guard on the second team. Only one other school in the state in Class B had the honor of placing two players on the All-State Teams. Calvin fans are justly proud of the showing the team has made this year and we hope to hear more about these players in the future.
