All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 20, 1960 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Last Rites For Jack Wallace Held Here Oct. 16 Eugene Clarence (Jack) Wallace, 70, native of Winnfield, and resident of Baton Rouge for many years, died in a Winnfield hospital Saturday, October 15, 1960, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W. R. Gage, Rev. C. C. Martin, and Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Richard Heard, Robert Heard, W. L. Willis, C. D. Moss, J. Donald Russell, and Luther Moore. Mr. Wallace was the son of the late J. T. and Olive Peters Wallace, pioneer residents of Winn Parish. He was a member of El Karubah Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of Shreveport, and was employed by the State Insurance Department at the time of his death. Mr. Wallace also played professional baseball for the Chicago Cubs and with the Southern League at one time. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jack Wallace, Sr., Baton Rouge; one son, Jack Wallace, Jr., Lake Charles; one stepson, Leo Jarnagin, Ft. Hood, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. John H. Mosley, Mrs. Earl E. Kidd, and Mrs. Gill Smith, all of Winnfield, and Mrs. W. J. Farber of Monroe; one brother, George M. Wallace, Baton Rouge; and one grandchild.
