Tommy, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Harrison of Montgomery, is heralded as one of the most promising young left- handers in organized baseball today. With four years of baseball behind him on the Southwestern Louisiana Institute squad, Tommy joined the staff at Kilgore at the beginning of this season and has established a sensational record that should bring him on up the baseball ladder of fame by next season. On June 14, 1950, he won his eighth game of the season. Formerly and outfielder and a good hitter, Tommy was converted into a pitcher at Southwestern during a tilt with Tulane. He entered into the game in a fireman's role and quenched the flames. Thus he became a pitcher, and a good one, too. This youth, who played for Winnsboro when that squad won a state championship in 1943, has become known as "Torrid" Tommy. The Kilgore paper says he has all the tools of the trade, "poise, control, the three necessary pitches, something extra for a jam, confidence in his ability, and a great move to first base." "He's a young man definitely ticketed for stardom," says the Kilgore News- Herald.
