Champions of the Gulf States Mission, Latter Day Saint (Mormon) Church
softball league, the Winnfield team defeated El Dorado, Ark., at Magnolia,
Ark., 14-2, July 23 for the pennant.  the team had previously beaten Monroe
for the district championship.  In the spring, the Winnfield group won the
Mission volleyball championship.  The mission includes churches in Louisiana,
Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee.  Team members:
Beth Garrett, Susan Johns, Janice Skains, Penny Connor, Mrs. Marlin Connor,
Mrs. Gary Carter (Mary Taylor), Mrs. Robert Howell, Patsy Finney, and Mrs.
Austin Abrams.
