Rev. Alwin Stokes, who has coached the high school teams for the past 12 years, has resigned his pastorate of the First Presbyterian Church here and is moving to Ferriday. Coach Horton issued a call for all candidates to report for practice Monday afternoon. Coach Stokes leaves a veteran team and local football fans expect the team to be one of the leading contenders for the State title. Below is a list of candidates: V. Adams, end J. Sowers, tackle A. Garris, quarterback G. Gimber, guard A. T. Drewett, halfback B. Gimber, halfback P. Dortch, halfback F. Brewer, fullback K. Teegarden, end J. B. Durham, quarterback B. Skains, guard V. Skains, tackle J. Anderson, center O. Dickerson, halfback C. Taylor, center J. Gilstrap, halfback R. Morgan, guard W. Radescich, fullback C. Maxey, tackle T. Hyde, fullback James Price, end E. Harrell, halfback J. Nugent, tackle In addition to the above, Gilcrease and Boyett at guards, Otis Dickerson at halfback and Melvin McQuiddy are new material that are expected to make the team. Also fifteen or twenty other candidates will be out. This year's team will be the heaviest that has ever represented the local school. The team has more average experience than any other team in previous years.
