Wins District Volleyball Meet

The Winnfield Tigerettes, coached by Elizabeth Melkild, won first place in the
District Volleyball Meet at Tech recently.  The local squad defeated Ruston,
23-13 in the finals to win.  An undefeated season in regular play lies behind
the Tigeretts now.  They hold two victories each over LaSalle, Ruston, and
Jonesboro.  The team will not go to state, due to the crowded schedule here,
says Coach Melkild. 

Team members are Patsy Tullos, Helen Lynn LaCroix, Gloria Harkins, Johnnie
Graham, Frances Whisonant, Dale Moss, Patty Mercer, Bonnie Harrel, Joan
Roberts, and Coach Elizabeth Melkild.
