NEGRO KILLS WHITE
Prisoner Hurried Away to Escape Mob in Louisiana
   Shreveport, La., Sept. 27.—A special from Winnfield, La., 
says:
   C. C. Farrer, a prominent farmer, fought a pistol duel in 
the road with Coot Neroes, a Negro, whom he had chastised for 
some unbecoming conduct.  Farrar was killed.
   The murderer was soon captured and hurried to Alexandria 
to escape a mob which was formed to lynch him.
