(UPI)—Clara Long Knott, sister of Louisiana Governors Huey and Earl Long, died Saturday after a lengthy illness. She was 83. Mrs. Knott was born in 1889 in the tiny Winnfield, La., cabin in which brothers Earl, Huey and the late congressman George Long were born. In 1914, Clara Long married Milton Knott and moved to Many, where she lived the rest of her life. While not as active in the political rise of her brothers as other members of her family, Mrs. Knott dabbled in politics for civic causes. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Warren Meadows Funeral Chapel in Many with interment at the Ft. Jessup Cemetery. Mrs. Knott is survived by two sisters—Mrs. Olive Cooper of Natchitoches and Mrs. Lucille Hunt of Ruston—and several nieces and nephews, including Sen. Russel Long, D-La., and former Louisiana Public Service Commissioner John Hunt.
