Abrams, 57, dean of LSUA since 1962; died of an apparent heart attack at 3 a.m. today at a hunting camp near Clinton. The school is currently in its final exam period, which ends Friday. School officials said exams will be held as scheduled. Selection of a successor to Dean Abrams will be made by the LSU Board Of Supervisors. A meeting date has not been set. Dr. Abrams was a native of Sikes in Winn Parish and received his bachelor of arts, master's and Ph.D degrees from LSU. He was a veteran of World War II He was a former teacher at Friendship and Winnfield High Schools and served one year as Winn Parish superintendent of schools. For five years he was an associate professor of agricultural education at Texas A&M University. Prior to being named dean at LSUA, he as professor of vocational agricultural education, then dean of the School of Vocational Education at LSU-Baton Rouge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie DeLee Abrams of Chambers; four daughters, Candy Abrams of Chambers, Mrs. Sue Reece of Mesquite, Tex., Mrs. Marcia Cox of Baton Rouge, and Doris Abrams of Jennings; two sisters Mrs Geneva Smith and Mrs Cora Bea Malone both of Sikes; on brother W. C. Abrams of Sikes and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Charlet Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in the Clear Creek Methodist Church Cemetery in Clinton. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to time of services Friday. The family request memorial to be made to Clear Creek Methodist Church.
