Abrams Of Sikes Is Claimed By Death Sept. J. M. Abrams, 76 years of age, a life-long resident of Sikes, Ward Three, Winn parish died at the Shreveport hospital, September 1, 1940 at 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted in the Hurricane Baptist Church September 2 with the Rev. G. Q. Adams, Baptist minister, officiating. Interment was in the Hurricane Grove cemetery under the direction of the Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: W. C. Abrams, Jr. of Westwego, LA; Morris N. Abrams of Bienville; Hester Thompson of Columbia; Charley Thompson of Sikes; Roy Thompson, Sikes; Herman Thompson, Sikes; Arnauld Thompson, Columbia; Stanley J. Smith, Sikes; Dr. John Harlow, Jonesboro. Born January 1, 1864, in Ward Three, Mr. Abrams lived his entire life there as a farmer. He had been a member of the Baptist Church since a young boy. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Belle Harper Abrams; one son, W. C. Abrams, Sr., of Sikes; one daughter, Mrs. Georgia Richardson of New Orleans; a sister, Mrs. Jane Crain of Zebedee; a brother, W. T. Abrams of Sikes and a number of grand and great grandchildren at various addresses
