They were Mrs. Martha Parlee Adams, lifelong resident of Ward 3, who died Sunday, October 29, and her daughter, Mrs. C. L. Boles of Winnfield, who succumbed at 6:55 p.m. Monday, October 30, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services for Mrs. Adams were held Monday at 10 a.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Last rites for Mrs. Boles were conducted Thursday, November 2, at Hurricane Grove Baptist Church near Sikes. Mrs. Martha Parlee Adams was born April 2, 1885 in Ward 3, Winn Parish, and had lived all her life in that area. She was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Adams died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ellard Kennedy in Sikes. Officiating the last rites were Rev. B. G. Dyess and Rev. A. D. Murry. Interment, under direction of Southern Funeral Home, was in the family cemetery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers. Surviving were four daughters, Mrs. C. L. Boles, of Winnfield, who died the following day, Mrs. Ellard Kennedy of Sikes, Mrs. Dottie Parker of Olla, and Mrs. Claire Jordan of Sikes; three sons, T. J. Adams, W. C. Adams, and J. E. Adams, all of Sikes; and one brother, A. C. Brister of Pineville. Also surviving are 45 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Rites For Mrs. Boles Funeral services for Mrs. C. L. Boles who passed away at her home on East Lafayette Street Monday night after a lengthy illness of several years, were held at Hurricane Grove Church Thursday, November 2, at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. B. G. Dyess officiating. Burial in Hurricane Grove Cemetery was under direction of Southern Funeral Home. She was born in 1905 in Ward 3 and had lived all her life in Winn Parish. For the past seven years she had made her home in Winnfield. Surviving are her husband, C. L. Boles; three sons, Victor Boles of Winnfield, Ardis Boles of Baton Rouge, and Henry Lee Boles of the U. S. Navy in San Diego, Calif; one daughter, Mrs. Avis Lewing of Many, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Ellard Kennedy of Sikes, Mrs. Dottie Parker of Olla, and Mrs. Claire Jordan of Sikes; three brothers, T. J. Adams, W. C. Adams, and J. E. Adams, all of Sikes.
