Last Rites Held For Rev. Adams Tuesday, May 31

Funeral services for the Rev. Joseph B. Adams, widely known retired Baptist
minister of Sikes, were held Tuesday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at the Hurricane Grove
Church, with Rev. Edward Smith of Sikes officiating.  Mr. Adams, a native of
Sikes, died in a Winnfield hospital May 30, at the age of 83, after a lengthy
illness.
                    
Burial was in the Hurricane Grove Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral
Home.  Acting as pallbearers were T. J. Townsend, Parnell Williams, Crosby
Adams, Jr., J. D. Willis, Lamar Willis, and LaVaughn Williams.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Thornton Adams; three sons, Isiah, Crosby,
and Ottis, of Sikes; five daughters, Mrs. E. A. Willis, Mrs. Bertie Waggoner,
of Sikes; Mrs. Nancy Bell Townsend of Beaumont, Texas; Mrs. Modie Williams of
Winnfield; Mrs. Selma Rose of South Deerfield,
