All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 25, 1963 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Robert Adams, 91, Winn Native, Is Buried July 21 Funeral services for Robert Lee "Uncle Bob" Adams of Liddieville, was held at 2 p.m. July 21 in Boeuf River Baptist Church with the Rev. Meredith Hair officiating. Mr. Adams, a member of a pioneer family, was one of 12 children. He was born in Winn Parish August 21, 1872 to Levi and Rebecca Adams. Mr. Adams was reared in Winn Parish and moved to Franklin Parish in the fall of 1906 in the Liddieville community. He purchased a small plot of uncleared land and after clearing it for farming, began acquiring more which he used for general farming. Through the years he had built his small plot into a farm of more than 400 acres. Mr. Adams was noted for his progressiveness and had purchased one of the first tractors in the community. He also became one of the first members of the community to avail himself of electricity and helped organize an electric cooperative, the Northeast Louisiana Power Cooperative. He retired from active farming in 1942, but continued to live on the land he had first moved to with wagons and mules. Mr. Adams resided in the house he had built and made additions to until about three days before his death. During his life Mr. Adams became the real and adopted uncle of dozens of northeast Louisiana residents, including many in Winn Parish. Mrs. Adams is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Woods Adams, Winnsboro; three sons, Elvin and L. C. Adams, both of Winnsboro, and H. J. Adams, Kirbyville, Texas; a foster son, Ezra Adams of Opelousas; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle A. Thompson and Mrs. Clemmie Fain, both of Winnsboro; 31 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, and one great, great, great grandchild.
