Adams: His Son Dies Nine Days Later After an illness of about fourteen months, N. P. Adams, 82, died March 22, 1937 at the Home of his daughter, Mrs. R. A. Parker, of near Sikes, Mr. Adams spent his entire life in Winn and Jackson Parish. After becoming a member of the Baptist church during his youth, he lived a devout Christian the remainder of his life. He preceded in death his son Dr. W. S. Adams of Cherokee, Ala., only nine days. He leaves to mourn his death eight children, three sons and five daughters, Mrs. R.A. Parker, Mr. Watson Adams and Miss Lizzie Adams all of Sikes, La., Mrs. J. G. Smith, Quitman, La., Mrs. T.D. Griffin, Truxno, La., Mrs. C.L. Griffin, Strong, Ark., Rev B.C. Adams, Livingston, Texas, and Mr. Ira Adams, Florance, Ala. Fifty-one grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn his decease. The deceased was laid to rest in the Harmony Grove cemetery on March 23, with Rev. L. D. Emmons conducting the funeral services and grandsons of the deceased acting as pallbearers. NOTES: {This was Newport Polete Adams, son of Brooky Gandy & Elizabeth (Barron) Adams.
