Obituary. DIED: - At the residence of L. R. Simmons on Wednesday, August 7, 1901, at 2 o clock, a. m., Washington N. Adams, aged 51 years, 11 months and 9 days. The deceased was born in ward 3, this parish, August 28, 1849. Father was a member of the Christian Church, and was sick but a few days. Oh! father, thy gentle voice is hushed, Thy warm true heart is still; And on thy pale and peaceful face, Is resting death s cold chill; Thy hands are clasped upon thy breast, we have kissed thy marble brow, And in our aching hearts we know, we have no father now. Farewell father, farewell father! Peaceful by thy rest; Slumber sweetly, god knew best when to call the home to rest. Farewell father, farewell father! we must say our last farewell, Till we meet beyond the river Happy there with thee to dwell. His son, Willie (Note: Washington N. Adams is buried in Friendship Cemetery, off 126, west of Sikes. He was born in Hickory Valley, the son of Washington Burgess Adams and Sarah Lucas. He married Francis Caroline Smith, who is also buried at Friendship.)
