Joe Adams of Sikes died at a Winnfield hospital at 2 p.m. January 8, following a long illness. The deceased, who was a lifelong resident of Sikes, was survived by three sons, five daughters, 31 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren. Her late husband was a Baptist minister at Sikes for many years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tom Edwards and A. Leonard Allen. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were C. J. Townsend, Crosby Adams, Jr., LaVaughn Williams, Parnell Williams, J. B. Willis, and Leonard Willis. The survivors include her sons, Crosby Adams, Odis Adams and ?. C. Adams, all of Sikes; and her daughters, Mrs. E. A. Willis, Sikes, Mrs. Nancy Bell Townsend, Beaumont, Tex., Mrs. J. A. Wiggins, Winnfield, Mrs. Selma Rose, South Dearfield, Mass., and Mrs. Berdie Waggoner, Sikes.
